Strategic-level Systems in Decision-making by Entrepreneurs: the Antecedents of Systems Usage

Strategic-level systems (SLS) are information systems at the strategic level of an organization designed to address unstructured decision-making. Using the technology acceptance model, the current research examines the antecedents of SLS usage in decision-making among one hundred seventy-seven entrepreneurs, and members of the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Malaysia or Entrepreneur Development Unit of the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department. The relationships between SLS usage, perceived system efficacy and usability were investigated, as well as the influence of computing experience, computing training, and computing support on perceptions. Theoretical and practical implications of the research are discussed.
